The Infernal Dandruff of a Vengeful God with a Dry Scalp

Yes, the white stuff has been positively pouring down upon the frozen borough that is Spokane, Washington. The commute has ranged anywhere from not insanely bad to mind-blastingly horrid, depending on the day, time, and route. I commute all the way from the northside to downtown, so it normally takes me about 25 to 30 minutes tops in the mornings, but the other day, taking the "safe" route of Division, it took me a whole hour. This was not how I wanted to spend my mornings (or evenings, for that matter), so I decided to take Monroe instead. Turns out that was the right call. Monroe is maintained about as well as Division, but there's less traffic, fewer stop lights, and it's a more direct way to get downtown. Yesterday I ended up leaving work a little early in order to get home safely, and it seemed to work out okay, though I wouldn't want to make a habit of it. I like getting larger paychecks. Hopefully, it will stop snowing by noon or something so I can just do my thing in peace.

Did somebody say...WONDER?!!?!!

Well, it's a brief post, but you know how it goes. Yesterday, I worked pretty much straight through lunch. I started doing some debugging, and next thing I knew, it was one o'clock, and I didn't feel like stopping. By the time I left, I was starving, though. Traffic was hellish, what with the snow and all. I'm starting to dislike snow. Does this mean I'm getting old? At any rate, in the evening when I got home, Trev, Ryan, Chris, Aaron B., and I all decided to hike up to Fizzy's for dinner and drinks. It was good to get out of the house with some of the crew and have some beer. They spent most of their time talking about MMO's, about which I care very little, so I was able to just eat my spaghetti and drink my beer in peace. It was nice. At any rate, very little is new right now, so more to come later, perhaps.

Captain Jack Will Get You High Tonight

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and all things considered, it wasn't that bad. The projected massive back-up over Snoqualmie Pass spectacularly failed to materialize, so we were able to make the drive without any real difficulties. Thanksgiving itself was pretty good, as we went over to the Gewins (our surrogate grandparents) for dinner. Jack smoked a turkey, and it was quite delicious. After dinner, we went and saw Harry Potter on the IMAX. I have to say that it was pretty good, as the film-makers did an excellent job of trimming down the myriad subplots of the book, though there were a few things missing that might have made the whole proceedings make a bit more sense, and Gary Oldman seriously needed some more screen time. Friday was uneventful, and Saturday saw Mom, Dad, Anna, and I driving down to Chehalis to pick up a load of Christmas trees for a church fundraiser. Sunday, Anna and I returned to Spokane, with James and one of her friends. Sunday night, Justin came over, and we discussed the Bermuda Triangle.

In other news, I am sick and tired of people using the phrase "The Lord works in mysterious ways." That's bullshit. It's not the means that are mysterious. They are perfectly comprehensible. It's the ends that are shrouded in enigma. Seriously. I heard this from a lot of people after my car accident (see previous posts), and it started to piss me off. There was NOTHING mysterious about the incident. I was distracted, I ran a red light, I hit another car. End of story. There is a clear causal chain of events about which there is no mystery at all. If there was a divine hand involved in it, the methods used by said divine being are not really so opaque. However, nobody has a blind piss of a clue as to the purpose of the events. It's like watching somebody going through a process from the middle. You can see exactly what they're doing, but fuck if you know where they're going with this. At any rate, that's my rant.

UPDATE! Life of Wyma has a serious update (don't read if you are touchy about feminism). Also, check out The Nameless Dread, which is old Family Circus comics remixed with Lovecraft quotes.
