Think you can take me? Go head on. It's your move.

Thank you, Joe Don Baker, for that wonderful little bit. At any rate, yesterday was a bit different, namely in that I got to go for coffee with the little sister. It was pretty good until she let slip that she sometimes felt as if she could marry her boyfriend. At this point, I gave her a cold glare indicating, "not on my watch, you aren't!" Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but truth be told, I feel slightly jealous of her success on the relationship front. Those of you who know me at all know that I am nothing if not unsuccessful in my endeavours with the opposite sex. I seem to drag a trail of broken and bloodied relationships wherever I go. I knows how to pick 'em, yeah? The thing is that my sister, who bears the same genetic material as I, seems to be able to maintain a steady long-term relationship, one that survived a year-long long-distance portion, no less. Damn, but I need to get out more. I'm dwelling too much on all the crap in my life. Why can't I just be an optimist for once?

Update, update, update!

In the words of Professor Farnsworth, Good news, everyone! Life of Wyma, morgothbauglir's sister site, has been updated with the first new post of the Fall semester, courtesy of Lars. Check it out. The disciples of Keith should be pleased by this. I know I am.

Consider me a weirdo

Well, it's been an odd weekend, to say the least. Friday I went and saw Transporter 2 with Aaron. It was okay, with some cool fight sequences and good car-chases. Good popcorn fare, basically. Saturday dawned, and we decided to begin work on a new Urban Arcana campaign in d20 modern courtesy of Tramp. Basically, it was a day to roll up some characters. In the evening, we decided to do some serious four on four Halo action, as the brothers Duncanson had shown up. It brought back memories of my days back in the Mac Basement. Fun times. Sunday rolled around, so that meant I had to teach Sunday school. I'm fine with that, except that my boss was there, and she tends to try and dominate conversations. Finally, I had to explicitly ask questions for people younger than me. Egads, but that is quite irritating. I then returned to the casa to hang out some. Trevor, Dave, Shawn, Ryan and I hung out for a bit before going over to Apt. 2. While there, we began Akira Kurosawa's Samurai 7. Basically, it's an anime that takes Kurosawa's epic The Seven Samurai and sets the story in a futuristic world where the samurai pilot giant mechs, or have cybernetic implants, or are full-conversion cyborgs. On the plus side, it is a cool concept with wonderful character designs and animation. On the down side is the fact that while each episode is approx. 25 minutes in length, ten of those minutes in each episode are devoted to the intro, the first re-cap (which recounts the story so far), the second re-cap (which basically tells the story of the world so far), the closing credits, and the preview for the next episode. As a result, each episode really only has 15 minutes of actual meat to it, meaning that each episode feels shorter than it should. At any rate, I then went back to the pad. Justin showed up around ten for our usual Unex goodness, but unfortunately, Unexplained Mysteries had been replaced with that ill-begotten bastard of Star Trek, Enterprise. This made both of us angry and confused. We've been doing some thinking, and it might be possible to do a paranormal documentary based in the Spokane area. If only we could get funding for it...
