Apocalypse: Averted

Last night, the unthinkable occurred: Our soccer team lost by only two points! This is distressingly close to winning, and I am not at all comfortable with this turn of events. We've garnered something of a reputation with the ref, who has taken something of a liking to us because we're just a bunch of guys who always (mostly) have a good time, even when we lose badly. The funny thing was that in this game, we managed to halfway convince the other team that we were winning just because of the fact that we were so much louder than they were (also, because we had Chris, Melissa, and Amanh's girlfriend on the sidelines cheering us on). To get ultra-nerdy here, it was as if we were being boosted by the effects of bardic music. We walked out of the arena knowing that we had managed to avoid serious injury, and not get blown out, and still maintained our fine tradition of losing. It worked out pretty good, I'd say.
Before the game, Ipps and I commenced to watch Breakin'. Sadly, this movie was better than Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (not that that is saying much). We were both disappointed. Meanwhile, I have planned my revenge for this. Ipps will surely like his birthday present come January. And by "like" I mean "despise."

And you might find yourself...

Well, it has been an odd weekend. For one thing, the System was Down. The System was Down. The System was Down. Now go write a techno song about it.
Friday night was our office party. I ended up sitting at the Stag Table, which consisted of Ipps, Kyle, Ian, Mike, John, and myself (plus honorary stags Chris and Melissa). As was the case last year, our table totally cleaned up at the raffle, as pretty much everybody except for Chris/Melissa and Mike won a prize. I mingled, drank a few, sobered up, mingled some more, and then drove home satisfied with a party well-spent. Yesterday, the system was, as previously mentioned, down. So, left to my own devices, I did a bit of cleaning in my room, and then hung out for a bit in the evening at the mall by myself. You always feel a bit on the pathetic side when you are wandering a mall by yourself mainly just because you are bored. I know I was. However, I got to make a girl's day, so that made me feel a bit better. After hitting the bookstore (my chief loitering location), I stopped at the food court to get some dinner. The gal at the pizza place commented that she wished she had eyes as brilliant as mine, and was thinking about getting colored contacts for just such a purpose. However, it must be noted that her eyes were this deep stormy grey, which is quite fetching, and I told her so. She responded with a nice smile, and told me that perhaps she would reconsider getting that eye exam in that case. It also kind of made my day just to be noticed by a stranger.
In other news, the inestimable Danny Moore was in town this week, so we hung out on Tuesday night, watching District B13, for some hardcore Parkour action. 'Twas good to see him again, and I hope the fates will cause our paths to cross once more, as he is what the kids these days like to call "good people."
