Sick and Wrong!

Well, this past week was the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, one of the most grizzly and atrocious of the Nazi death camps. However, I like to think that something good came out of the whole mess, namely that we will forever have a human movie villain who may be mowed down without qualms by the hero. That's right, if it weren't for the Nazis, action heroes could only fight stupid robots and maybe the undead. Nazis make the perfect cannon fodder because they are really just so horrid that really, committing what would ordinarily be considered mass murder is now just a public service. You don't have to explain to anyone why you killed a Nazi. You just point to the swastika on his arm, and everybody just goes, "Oooh. Carry on then." Let's be honest here. Would Raiders of the Lost Ark have been as cool without Nazi villains? Nope. Hellboy? Nope. The Rocketeer? Nope. Hell, even Bulletproof Monk had Nazi villains going for it, making it semi-watchable. So let's all raise a toast to those wacky fascist bastards who have given American film audiences an oh-so-hateable villain for over 60 years.

By Jove, it happened!

Nope, not really. Hell, I don't even know what or who "it" is. At any rate, Jan term break has been entertaining. I've watched some movies, played some games, read some comics, and generally hung out. Yeah, nothing really to report about me. Apparently Bjorn Valstrom of Denmark has a son with whom he is trying to get in contact (see comments from the most recent post). Renee had her auditions yesterday, though they did not go as she would have liked. Sad day. If I believed in using emoticons, there would be a sad face here. But I don't, so there's not. She had open auditions today, and apparently there was a bite, more details to come. Oh well. Feel free to post comments.

Never Again

Never again shall Jan Term at Whitworth darken my schedule. Never again will I have to sit through a boring lecture on serotonin. Never again will I have to take a three-hour nap while some southern-fried chemist drones on and on and on about reuptake inhibitors. Never again will I have to include a glossary of terms on my papers. You get the picture.

Last night, with a poster project and a 5 page paper hanging over my head, I decided to forgo my responsibilities and watch a crappy movie. So I watched Underworld. Again. It was crappy the first time I saw it, crappy the second time I saw it, and it remains crappy to this very day. At any rate, that meant that I had to pull all of my work together this morning, which I did okay at. I BS'd the poster and finished up the paper with time to spare. We then presented, and I was scott free. At that point, I picked up my little sister to take her to the airport. Did I mention I am heliophobic? Yeah. Long story. At any rate, after getting back from the airport, Justin and I headed out to the Comic Book Store, that mecca of Spokane Geeks everywhere. We got some comics, grabbed some food on our way home, and then watched Versus, which I have spoken of before on this site. Then Renee called from New York, so I talked with her for a bit. She seems to be having a blast over there, seeing the sites and sights, and generally enjoying herself. That is good for her. I wish I were going somewhere cool for the break, but I'm not. Oh well.

Well, I believe this wraps up tonight's session.

P.S., check out The Onion for this week. It's pretty damned good.

No More Madness For Me

Tomorrow is the last day of Jan Term. About damned time, I say! This weekend has consisted mainly of me being a geek and that sort of thing. Saturday night was Halo night with the Coin and Cleavage crew. We hit the net, and had a rip-snorting good time. Oh, and Kevin finally got my boots back to me. I was wondering when that boot-snatching bastard would return them. After we tired of Halo, we played some DOA Ultimate. I then returned home to my bed. Sunday rolled around, and with it, Sunday School. I began in earnest our Atheist's Bible Study. Two people showed up, so it was sort of lackluster. In the evening, we basically did a study session for their finals, so that went okay. I woke up late today, because we have no class, and here I am!
