Consider me a weirdo
Well, it's been an odd weekend, to say the least. Friday I went and saw Transporter 2 with Aaron. It was okay, with some cool fight sequences and good car-chases. Good popcorn fare, basically. Saturday dawned, and we decided to begin work on a new Urban Arcana campaign in d20 modern courtesy of Tramp. Basically, it was a day to roll up some characters. In the evening, we decided to do some serious four on four Halo action, as the brothers Duncanson had shown up. It brought back memories of my days back in the Mac Basement. Fun times. Sunday rolled around, so that meant I had to teach Sunday school. I'm fine with that, except that my boss was there, and she tends to try and dominate conversations. Finally, I had to explicitly ask questions for people younger than me. Egads, but that is quite irritating. I then returned to the casa to hang out some. Trevor, Dave, Shawn, Ryan and I hung out for a bit before going over to Apt. 2. While there, we began Akira Kurosawa's Samurai 7. Basically, it's an anime that takes Kurosawa's epic The Seven Samurai and sets the story in a futuristic world where the samurai pilot giant mechs, or have cybernetic implants, or are full-conversion cyborgs. On the plus side, it is a cool concept with wonderful character designs and animation. On the down side is the fact that while each episode is approx. 25 minutes in length, ten of those minutes in each episode are devoted to the intro, the first re-cap (which recounts the story so far), the second re-cap (which basically tells the story of the world so far), the closing credits, and the preview for the next episode. As a result, each episode really only has 15 minutes of actual meat to it, meaning that each episode feels shorter than it should. At any rate, I then went back to the pad. Justin showed up around ten for our usual Unex goodness, but unfortunately, Unexplained Mysteries had been replaced with that ill-begotten bastard of Star Trek, Enterprise. This made both of us angry and confused. We've been doing some thinking, and it might be possible to do a paranormal documentary based in the Spokane area. If only we could get funding for it...
