Morgoth Bauglir: A day in the life of a Dark Lord

WWCD? (What Would Cthulhu Do?) No, for the last time, I'm not a cultist!

I saw a cool movie last night. It was entitled Pact des Loupes, or Brotherhood of the Wolf in English. It's a delightful little French period-horror film about a mysterious beast that rampages throughout the French countryside during the latter half of the eighteenth century. The only downside is that, like all good French films, it features a graphic brothel sex scene, and the people I watched it with were so easily disturbed by this sort of thing that it was necessary to cover the screen with a pizza box during this scene, and just read the subtitles. My room-mate Shawn had pizza box duty, and each time the hero walked into the brothel, our hosts would say, "Shawn, man the pizza box." I don't think our hosts were that offended by the scenes, but they made the effort on behalf of their feminine companions, if you know what I mean.

Other stuff: My folks are coming out to visit on Friday. Whoop de do. As you can surmise by my less-than-thrilled tone, I am not really looking forward to this. I would rather have a relaxing weekend with my friends than some good old-fashioned "quality time" with my parents. Yeah, I'm fucked up. Who cares?

Books: I read a singularly puzzling book the other day by Lu Xun entitled The True Story of Ah Q. It takes place during the first Chinese Revolution, and it's about this guy who is basically the village idiot who is totally incompetent in all forms. I finished this book wondering to myself, "Why did this author even bother with a book about this total imbecile? Why couldn't the translators afford a decent editor?" As it turns out, much of the point in the book is derived from a series of Chinese inside facts that you really have to be a part of the culture to understand. Upon gaining some understanding of what the point of the book was, I thought it was rather interesting.

Health: Do you know how much excrement is produced by a single human being in one week? I don't. Could somebody tell me?

I guess that just about wraps things up from this end. Sayanara, and good health.
