Peter James, Bitch!

Okay, so it's been a while since my last post. Part of that has been due to just the usual exigencies of life, namely owing to the fact that for the past week, we have had a houseguest, in the form of Sheena, Trevor's girlfriend. That was neat, but it meant that it was a bit more crowded than usual. Then there was also the fact that with Sheena came one of Jeff's friends from Oregon. In short, everybody was around all the time. Net result: very little privacy.
In other news, I had something of an epiphany on Friday, which was most appreciated. It occurred while I was taking a shower, oddly enough. For this reason, I have been considering converting my bathroom into an office, seeing as that's where I seem to do my best thinking. Basically, I've begun doing some work on a different approach to epistemology, blending evidentialism, foundationalism, coherentism, and just a smidge of warrant/proper function into a practical epistemic toolkit. Questions? Comments? Let me know and I'll send you more. Z has already heard some of the ideas, and he seemed to like them.
More news: yesterday I took the GRE's. Sweet zombie Jesus, but they make you go through draconian measures just to take that test. I shit you not, you are allowed more objects on an airplane than you are in the testing room. I understand the reasoning behind it all, but that doesn't mean I don't find it mildly annoying. I took the test, and felt pretty good about it. We'll see how the final written portion came out. Woo.
Even more news: Last night, Ryan invited Trev and I over to his parents' place for dinner. It was nice. This morning, he flew out to the bustling metropolis of Ottowa (long story). His flight was at 6 AM, and he needed a ride, so he and I basically pulled an all-nighter at his pad and then went out to the airport. We watched Red vs. Blue, played Metal Slug 4, and drank caffeinated beverages. We then left. I am now responsible for his two ferrets, Oracle and Prophet. This will be interesting. Meanwhile, my parents come into town on Saturday, so bollocks for that. They're dropping my little sister off at Whitworth. This is going to be real strange for me, as it will be the first fall in four years that I have not gone to school. It's taking some getting used to. Hopefully, the job interview that I had on Thursday will pan out. At this point, I hardly know what is what anymore. Reputedly, I'm a pretty smart guy, but I can't seem to find much validation of that fact these days. But enough about that. I can't think of anything else that is pertinent at the moment, so I shall sign off for now.

I know what you mean about the GRE. I went into a testing center in Portland and it was awful. I could only take in 2 pencils and 5 sheets of paper. Nothing else, not even my wallet or keys. What do they think I'm gonna do??? Engrave answers into my keys? Seriously. They even had the room covered by videocameras. After my time working for the man I thought about screwing with them. Then I remembered that these were the people who figuratively held my future in my hands. So I didn't. Will should have done well on the test. Its actually not that hard, especially not with a philosophy major.
For those of you with a Ph major, get Will to tell you about his new system of epistemic thought. I think its spot on. The problem with most epistemologies is that the person who dreamed them up (especially with epistemology folks) is that they haven't gotten out of their office for years. I mean seriously, could we actually use real life to tell us what is true about how we gain new information? Anyway, talk to Will about all of this because its wicked cool.
