mood: relaxed
Well, it's day 2 of my period of rest. I spent the first part of the day down at Redmond Town Center, just having a merry old time people watching and the like. I then went home and hung out for a bit.

For dinner, I got take out pizza, and picked up a few movies to watch after dinner. First of all, there was the entertaining if somewhat average Shanghai Knights. It was nothing unexpected, and passable, so no real need for comment.

The second movie, on the other hand, absolutely blew me away. Seriously, this was the essence of cool distilled into its most pure form. The movie to which I refer to is called simply Versus. Now, as you may or may not know, I have always had a bit of a fascination with (and hatred for) the undead, as well as a deep respect and admiration for the Samurai. This movie takes the two of them, and puts a really neat little twist into it. It is for this reason that Versus takes home Will's 2003 Fantastico award for excellence in cool film-making (previous winners include Six-String Samurai, Cowboy Bebop, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust). While some of the translation work is a bit sub-par, the movie as a whole positively oozes coolness to the point where you just want to go out, grab a black leather duster, leather pants, a katana, and a 9 mm and go kick some zombie ass. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who likes horror films, samurai films, campy films, or anime.
