They were probably drug dealers anyway...
This past week has been a series of ups and downs, and let me tell you, despite what anybody says, the downs really outweighed the ups. The week started out pretty good. On Monday, because I got off work before noon, I went down to Lanwerx in Bellevue for Penny-Arcade's Soul Calibur II Tournament. A rollicking good time was had by all. Tuesday, though, was a completely different story. I had to make deliveries in Bellevue. Now, while I don't have any real issues with driving myself around Bellevue, driving to many of the places on a strict time-table and competing with vicious snarls of traffic do tend to cause problems for me. I didn't end up getting done until 5:45, and I still had some work that needed doing, plus my little brother's eighth-grade graduation to attend. And I hadn't eaten all day. Needless to say, things could have been much better for me. Wednesday, I got up for the early distribution run, and did okay on it, and it looked like it would be a good day. However, when I got back to the store after making some delivieries, I discovered that I had been fired. Yeah, they weren't too happy with how I was working out in Bellevue. It was like they decided to ignore the fact that I was faster than anybody else when it came to making deliveries in the fucking Issaquah area, and I was decently fast when it came to the North Bend area as well. In short, I got shafted. So, once more, I am unemployed. As you can imagine, this has lent the past week a noticably bitter tone. Damnit, but I really do hate that. It always seemed like whenever I would call in to the driver manager to check in with her, she seemed slightly disappointed that I had called, as if she were expecting me to be in some sort of deep shit. And then if I wasn't, she would be surprised. At any rate, I really got a negative vibe from most of the people at the shop, with a few possible exceptions. Hence the title above. In other news, I spent the rest of the week camping with my family and our surrogate grandparents. As usual, this was a chancy proposition, in that I HATE camping with my family. Dad's always cranky, and Mom always has these hair-brained ideas about spending the whole time together. I am not sure if either of them have realized it, but they really do wreak hell on one's libido. Seriously, nothing kills one's drive to reproduce like the knowledge that one's parents are urging you to spend some quality family time with them. As a singer-songwriter from the mid-90's whose name I have forgotten once said, "Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow", and so long as my folks are hanging around me, I think my chances of obtaining same are about nil. It's quite a drag. Plus, our surrogate grandparents for some obscure reason or other that I am not privy to brought along this other old lady who just got on my nerves. I can't put my finger on it, but she just really annoyed me. Maybe it was the way she talked or something, or the way she acted as if her knowing the Gewins (our surrogate grandparents) somehow gave her the same priveledges that I give them. Now, the Gewins are people for whom I care deeply and can spend all sorts of time with. They are, as has been mentioned, essentially family as far as I can tell, with the single oddity that there is no blood relation to them whatsoever. And, as they are essentially grandparents, I find it impossible to be annoyed by them. Their friend on the other hand, did not seem to grasp this, and it was most irksome. At any rate, the weekend turned out more or less okay, and I'm back home.
