Too late for that...
Today was an odd mixture of events for me. The day started off with a bang, in the form of a History of Modern Philosophy midterm. In honor of the occasion, I dressed up as Keith Wyma. It was quite hilarious. Afterwards, I decided to reward myself by skipping my afternoon class. I went back to my room after lunch and changed into shorts and a hawaiian shirt. Donning my sunglasses and sandals, I grabbed a camp chair and a book and made my way out to the loop, where I spent about an hour just leisurely reading. I went back and prepared for my ethics bowl team meeting. The meeting occured, and surprisingly enough, everybody showed up. Afterwards, we went to the HUB, and watched President Bush address the nation regarding the use of force in Iraq. It was at this point that things turned grim. Despair creeped into my soul as he uttered the words that I dreaded, and yet fatalistically expected to hear: "We shall be forced to go to war." I knew it was coming a long time ago, but I naively deceived myself and held out the hope that cooler heads would prevail. War really puts a damper on an otherwise glorious day, and made the whole thing seem rather bittersweet. Sigh...
