Anarchy, the scourge of every sea!
Yesterday was not an easy day, not by a longshot. On Monday, I got an e-mail from Brad setting up a meeting to discuss my future with the company. The first thought that ran through my head was "they're totally going to fire me." I kept thinking "have I done something wrong? I thought I was doing well here..." ad infinitum. So it was with a bit of trepidation that a I walked into the conference room to discuss my employment with the company. We both sat down, and then Brad flat out said, "Would you like to work for a full-time salary instead of hourly?" YES. Apparently, this was the correct answer, because he then proceeded to offer me full salary and benefits. What this means is that I am intern no longer. I am full employee (pending 90 day trial period). I am LEGEND! Okay, so maybe I don't slay vampires by day and hide in my boarded up house by night, drinking my brains out, but it's still fun to say. At any rate, it was an absolutely fantastic day.

Congratulations, amigo!
I somehow just found your blog through a graph network of other Whitworth blogs. It just so happened that I thought of you the other day while I was at a conference and the plenary speaker was named "Lothar."
You used to do a fine "Lothar of the hill people" routine.
Glad to see you're still kickin'
Ben McD.
And still doing a fine Lothar of the Hillpeople routine, if I do say so myself. Good to hear from you, Ben! Hope things are going well for you at Vanderbilt, where you will soon be known as DOCTOR McDonald. And if someone collapses in a crowded room, and someone else asks "Is there a doctor in the house," you can say with pride "I'm a doctor! Of Computer Science!"
If selling out means getting paid to do something that you are truly enjoying, then I suppose I've sold out. At least I won't collect a salary from a church to do what I love.
